Lidded vessels are a staple of the potter’s repertoire. Lids add visual complexity and interest, and offer another surface to decorate. This workshop will explore different types of lids, lid aesthetics, and technical considerations.
Before plastic and glass were were commercially available (70 and 200 years ago respectively), pottery was the only choice for clean, dry, safe storage. Humans have been designing and making lidded containers for food storage and preservation for over 10,000 years.
If you are not making lidded vessels or you are struggling to get proper lid fit and success in the glaze firing, then this workshop is for you.
